PAUSO is a quick strategy game in which you place coloured rings on a small grid and push the rings next to them. Push your ring onto another to score, use the arrow, plus and minus squares to gain extra turns or knock a colour out, and come back for a new board the next day. It is free with no ads, in the browser and on iOS and Android.
About PAUSO
PAUSO, subtitled Push or Get Pushed, is a turn-based strategy game from the London studio PAUSO LTD. It plays in a browser at pauso.world and in apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Its board is a small grid, four squares by four on the day we looked, with a few special squares marked on it, and each player has rings of one colour.
On your turn you place a ring, and placing it pushes the rings beside it one square away. Push one of your rings onto another ring and you score a point. Arrow squares carry a pushed ring one square further, scoring on a plus square gives that colour an extra turn, and scoring on a minus square eliminates that colour from the game. The player with the most points wins.
The daily part is the board itself: where the arrows, plus and minus squares sit changes each day, so the same few rules play out differently from one day to the next. You can play the day's board online, send a link to play friends, or pass one device around for a local game of two to six players.
The game is free and, since its October 2026 update, has no ads; the apps sell one-time cosmetic items for its pixel-art characters. A short interactive lesson on the site walks through each rule in a few moves. It suits players who like small abstract board games that take a few minutes and reward looking one push ahead.
How to play PAUSO
- Open pauso.world or the app and tap the board to start; the Learn page teaches each rule in a few moves.
- On your turn, place one of your rings on an empty square of the day's board.
- Placing a ring pushes the rings on the squares next to it one square away.
- Push your ring onto another ring to score a point.
- An arrow square pushes a ring one square further in its direction.
- Score on a plus square to gain an extra turn, or on a minus square to eliminate that ring's colour.
- Finish with the most points to win the game.

Tips
- Before placing, check where every neighbouring ring would land, including any arrow square that carries it one step further.
- A score on a plus square gives an extra turn, so a chain of scores can come from one good placement.
- Keep your own rings away from the minus square when an opponent can push onto it.
- Play through the Learn page once: it shows each rule on a tiny board in one to three moves.
