Math Sprint in progress: problem 1 of 20, 18 + 13, with the score, the timer and an answer box

Math Sprint gives you 60 seconds to solve twenty mixed arithmetic problems, easy and medium, with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Everyone gets the same problems each day, so your score is directly comparable. It is one of the small daily games on BrainSnack.

About Math Sprint (BrainSnack)

Math Sprint is a one-minute daily arithmetic test from BrainSnack, a site of short daily brain games. The page asks how fast you can count, and a single button starts the clock.

Once you start, a problem such as 18 + 13 appears in the middle of the card. You type the answer and submit it, and the next of the twenty problems follows. The problems mix addition, subtraction, multiplication and division at easy and medium difficulty, and a progress bar and a counter show how far through the set you are, with your score and the seconds left at the top.

The set is the same for every player on a given day, so the challenge is to set the bar and see who can match it. Links at the foot of the card lead to BrainSnack's other daily puzzles.

It suits anyone who wants a quick warm-up for the brain, and players of number games who would rather race the clock than work out a single long equation.

How to play Math Sprint (BrainSnack)

  1. Open Math Sprint and press Start sprint.
  2. Read the problem on the card and type the answer.
  3. Press Submit, or Enter, to move to the next problem.
  4. Answer as many of the twenty problems as you can before the 60 seconds run out.

Tips

  • Keep your hands on the keyboard and use Enter to submit.
  • For subtraction, count up from the smaller number; it is often faster.
  • Do not stop on a hard division: speed across all twenty matters more.
