Calcle is a daily maths guessing game. The result of a calculation is shown on the right, and you guess the five numbers that fill the equation on the left. After each attempt the tiles turn colours to show which digits are right and in place, which are in the equation elsewhere and which are not in it at all.

About Calcle

Calcle borrows Wordle's colour feedback for a small arithmetic puzzle. Each row is an equation of five single digits joined by operators, and the day's result is shown at the end of the row. You fill in five digits, press equals, and see how close you were.

A green tile means that digit is in the equation and in the right place, a purple one that it is in the equation but somewhere else, and a grey one that it is not in the equation at all. You have five attempts. Because each guess has to be a real calculation, you are juggling the arithmetic and the clues at the same time, which makes it tighter than a letters game.

The Daily Challenge is the same for everyone: the answer is generated from the date, and the game counts days from its launch. A freeplay mode gives a new random equation whenever you like. Stats track games played, wins, streaks and how many attempts your wins took, and results can be copied to share. There are dark and high-contrast themes.

It suits players of Nerdle and Mathler who want a shorter daily with only digits to find.

How to play Calcle

  1. Open Calcle and look at the result at the end of the row.
  2. Type five digits into the equation and press equals.
  3. Read the colours: green is right and in place, purple is in the equation elsewhere, grey is not in it.
  4. Use what you learned to make your next attempt, up to five.
  5. Copy your result to share, or switch to freeplay for more.

Tips

  • Start with five different digits to test as many as possible.
  • Use the result to rule out digits: a small result rules out large multiplications.
  • Keep green digits fixed and move purple ones to new places.
  • Remember the same digit can appear more than once.
