Match the Country on Quizebra

Match the Country board: eight country flags (Canada, Australia, Armenia, Algeria, Serbia, Solomon Islands, Vatican City, Lesotho) above eight categories from Lowest Population to Highest Peak

Match the Country is a daily geography puzzle on Quizebra. You get eight countries and eight categories, from lowest population to highest peak, and place one country in each; every placement scores that country's world rank there, and the lowest total wins.

About Match the Country (Quizebra)

Match the Country is one of Quizebra's free daily geography challenges. The eight categories never change: lowest and highest population, smallest and largest area, shortest and longest coastline, flattest terrain and highest peak. What changes each day is the set of eight countries, the same for everyone.

Each country can go in only one category and each category takes only one country, so the board has to work as a whole. A placement scores the country's real rank out of 197 in that category, and the eight ranks are added: lower is better. Because every measure appears from both ends, every country is cheap somewhere; Vatican City ranks last for population and area but joint first for shortest coastline, as does every landlocked country.

After you submit, the best possible board for the day's eight countries is shown next to yours, and your percentage says where you landed between the worst and best arrangements. Figures come from the CIA World Factbook. It is free, with no account and no ads, and practice rounds stay open after the daily.

It suits players who like flag and map games and enjoy a little planning on top of what they know.

Tips

  • Put a landlocked country in Shortest Coastline: it is joint first there.
  • Fill the certain number ones first, then move the countries that are cheap in two categories.
  • A middling rank of 60 costs far less than leaving a country where it ranks 190.
