Match the Player on Quizebra

Match the Player board: eight footballers (Antony, Raphaël Varane, Diego Costa, Luka Modrić and others) above eight categories from most Champions League titles to highest career-high market value

Match the Player is a daily football stats puzzle on Quizebra. You get eight players and eight categories, from most Champions League titles to highest career-high market value, and place one player in each; every placement is scored on how close the player's real number is to the best.

About Match the Player (Quizebra)

Match the Player is one of Quizebra's free daily football challenges. The board has four rows of two categories, rebuilt for each puzzle: two competition titles, a goals count split into most and fewest, a games count split the same way, and usually most clubs played for beside highest career-high market value.

Each player can go in one category only and each category takes one player. A placement is judged on how close the player's real figure is to the best in the whole database for that category, from a perfect fit that costs nothing to the worst that costs 100. Your total is then placed between the best and worst arrangements the day's eight allow, so one bad placement costs far less than a board that is wrong all over. The fewest slots are often free: a player who never played in a league has zero there.

There is no timer, and the best board is shown beside yours after you submit. Figures come from StatMuse, Wikipedia, Transfermarkt and Wikidata. It is free, with no account and no ads, and practice rounds stay open after the daily.

It suits football fans who like planning a whole board rather than answering one question at a time.
