GeoTap is a free daily geography game played on a spinning 3D globe. Each day it names five places, such as a capital city or a country, and you tap where you think each one is. Closer taps score more, the five rounds add up to a score out of 100, and a streak counts the days you play.
About GeoTap
GeoTap is a browser geography game at geotap.io built around a 3D globe of the Earth. Its main mode, GeoTap Daily, gives everyone the same five places on a given date. A card at the top shows the round, the date and your running score, then names the place and what kind of place it is: a capital city in one round, a whole country in the next.
You spin the globe to the right part of the world and tap once where you think the place is. The game shows how close you were, adds the points to your total and turns to the next round. After five rounds you get a score out of 100, a streak count and a result you can share or copy.
The home screen offers a second daily beside it, StreetTap Daily, which drops you on a street and asks you to find that spot on the globe. When the dailies are done there is more to play: themed Packs, some of them ordered Sagas, and an Infinity mode with no end. None of it asks for an account.
The globe itself has no labels or borders drawn on it, only coastlines, relief and water, so a round tests whether you know where a place sits rather than whether you can read a map. It suits players who like map-pin games such as Blind Globe or Cartogle and want a short daily round.
How to play GeoTap
- Open geotap.io and press Play on GeoTap Daily.
- Read the card at the top: it names the place and says whether it is a city or a country.
- Drag to spin the globe to the part of the world where you think it is.
- Tap once on the spot you choose; the game shows how close you came and the points you earned.
- Play all five rounds, then see your score out of 100 and share it if you like.
Tips
- Turn the globe before you tap: the starting view rarely faces the right continent.
- The globe has no borders, so use coastlines, seas and large lakes to find your place.
- For a country round, aim for the middle of the country rather than its edge.
- Play StreetTap Daily after GeoTap Daily to keep both streaks going.
