Geographly builds each day around one mystery country. You first name it from its outline in five tries, then pick its neighbours, match capitals and flags, compare areas, and finally guess its population. Each stage earns XP for streaks, leagues and a global leaderboard.

About Geographly

Geographly is a daily geography lesson in game form. Each day there is one country or territory, the same for every player, and you meet it through six stages. Stage one shows its outline and gives you five tries to name it, with more XP for fewer tries.

Next you pick the countries that border it, scoring for each right neighbour and losing a little for wrong ones; islands skip this step. Then you match those countries to their capitals and their flags, answer which of two countries is bigger in area, and finish with a single guess at the mystery country's population, the stage worth the most. Perfect rounds earn bonus XP.

The pool covers 196 countries and 51 territories such as Alaska, Hawaii and Greenland. No sign-up is needed to play, and your XP feeds a streak, leagues and a global leaderboard. It suits learners who want more than one guess a day, and players of Worldle and its bonus rounds.

How to play Geographly

  1. Open geographly.app and press Play Now.
  2. Name the country from its outline in up to five tries.
  3. Pick its neighbours, then match capitals and flags.
  4. Answer which of two countries is bigger.
  5. Guess the mystery country's population, then check your XP and rank.

Tips

  • Wrong neighbour picks cost XP, so only pick borders you are sure of.
  • Islands have no neighbours, which shortens the round.
  • The population guess is worth the most, so think in orders of magnitude before answering.
