GeoDuo Challenge #018 for 6 October 2026: a single purple border line in the middle, answer boxes for two countries, six guess slots and a list of locked hints

GeoDuo is a free daily geography game. It draws a single land border on a blank background and asks which two countries or territories it separates. You have six guesses, a new hint after each wrong one, and a correct country turns green so you can keep it. Earlier days are in an archive, and the game is available in seven languages.

About GeoDuo

GeoDuo shows one line, the shape of a land border taken from Natural Earth map data, with nothing else on the map to give it away. You can rotate and zoom the line, then pick two countries from the lists and press Check. The order does not matter.

You have six attempts. If one of your two countries is right it shows in green and can stay in your next answer. Each wrong answer unlocks a hint, in this order: the regions, the length of the border, the outline of one country, the outline of the other, and finally both initials. There is no distance scale on the map, so the length hint stays useful.

Each challenge is numbered and dated, changes at 00:00 UTC and is the same for every player; the game runs through all 342 borders in its data before any repeats. Maritime borders are left out. Your progress, streak, statistics and an atlas of the borders you have solved are kept in the browser, earlier days can be played from the history, and you can share your guesses without revealing the countries. The site is in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian and Catalan.

How to play GeoDuo

  1. Open geoduo.org and look at today's border line; drag to rotate it and zoom if you need to.
  2. Choose a first and a second country from the search lists and press Check.
  3. Keep any country shown in green and change the other one.
  4. After each wrong answer, read the new hint: regions, length, outlines and then initials.
  5. Name both countries within six attempts, then share your result.

Tips

  • Look at the line's ends: a border that stops at a coast or meets a third country narrows the choices.
  • Use the compass to put north back up before you judge the border's direction.
  • Remember that territories and disputed areas count, and that one pair of countries can share several border sections.
