Gamedle is a daily guessing game for people who play a lot of video games. Each day brings a game to name in each of five modes, from a pixelated cover that clears with each miss to a table of specifications, and a themed weekly set on top. Unlimited modes let you keep going.
About Gamedle
Gamedle is a video game quiz you play in a browser or as an app on iOS and Android. Its About section says it was made by a single developer and was inspired by Wordle and Framed; the App Store lists the developer as Adrian Curbelo. The site is translated into nine languages, and everything on it is free, with a Ko-fi supporter code that removes ads.
Each day has five modes, marked by difficulty. Cover art (easy) shows a pixelated box cover and asks for the game. Artwork (medium) shows a piece of game art instead, and Characters (medium) shows a character to name in fewer tries, where green means the right franchise. Keywords (hard) gives phrases, emojis and a pixelated cover to combine into one answer. Guess, the specifications mode, compares each guess with the hidden game on platforms, genres, themes, release year, ESRB rating, game modes, engine, developer and publisher, perspective and series, marking each column green, yellow or red, with an arrow for the year.
In Cover art you have six lives and can skip a guess. A red answer is wrong, yellow means the right franchise but a different series within it, and green means the right franchise and series. Matching genres and platforms are shown next to each wrong guess, which narrows the field. The Guess mode offers a one-time clue that costs a life.
On top of the daily modes there is a weekly themed set (week 182 was games made under crunch), occasional limited events, and unlimited versions of Cover Art, Keywords and Guess. You can sign in to keep progress across devices or play without an account. Gamedle suits players with a broad memory of games across eras who want more than one puzzle a day.
How to play Gamedle
- Open Gamedle and pick a daily mode: Cover art, Artwork, Characters, Keywords or Guess.
- Look at the picture or clues and type a game into the search box, then press Guess, or press Skip.
- Read the colour: red is wrong, yellow is the right franchise but another series, green is the right franchise and series; matching genres and platforms appear next to your guess.
- Each miss costs a life and shows more of the picture or another clue; keep going until you name the game or run out of lives.
- Move on to the other daily modes, then try the weekly set or the unlimited modes.

Tips
- Start with Cover art: it is marked easy and warms you up for the harder modes.
- Use the genres and platforms shown next to a wrong guess to rule out whole eras or consoles before your next try.
- A yellow result means you have the franchise, so try other series within it before switching franchise.
- In Guess mode, save the one-time clue for late in the round, since it costs a life.
