GuessThe.Game
Name the video game from its screenshots in six guesses or fewer.
Every day: One video game a day, numbered and the same for everyone, shown through up to six screenshots that reveal more with each wrong or skipped guess; past days can be played from the archive. New puzzle: Midnight in your local time zone.

GuessThe.Game shows you a screenshot from a video game and asks you to name it. Each wrong guess or skip reveals another screenshot and a hint such as the Metacritic score or the original platform, up to six. There is one numbered game a day for everyone, and earlier days stay playable.
About GuessThe.Game
GuessThe.Game is a daily browser puzzle in which you name a video game from screenshots. The first numbered puzzle went up in May 2022, and the count has passed 1,600 days. The screenshots can show gameplay, menus or cutscenes, and the picks range across genres, eras and platforms, mixing well known games with obscure ones. The site says harder games tend to land on weekends and easier ones on weekdays.
A day starts with one screenshot and a search box. You type the game you think it is and pick it from the list, or skip. A wrong answer or a skip opens the next screenshot from the same game along with a hint: in order, the Metacritic score, the original platform, the genre, the year of release and the developer. Guesses from the right series are marked, so you know you are close. You have six tries in all, and the result can be shared as a row of coloured squares with the puzzle number.
Earlier puzzles can be replayed from the previous days page, and the site keeps statistics and a rank that rises as you solve more. Alongside the main game it runs extra daily puzzles such as Guess The Poorly Described Game, which gives a joking description instead of a picture, and Guess The Cover, which belongs to an optional paid membership that also removes ads and syncs stats across devices. The same team runs sister sites for songs, books, films and more.
It suits players with a wide memory of games across many consoles, and it takes a few minutes a day.

Tips
- Skipping costs a guess just like a wrong answer, so a reasonable guess is usually worth more than a skip.
- A guess from the right series is marked, which tells you to stay in that series and change the entry.
- Read interface details in the screenshot such as health bars, fonts and button prompts: they often give away the platform or the era.
- Expect harder picks on weekends.
