Lootdle

Guess the video game from its loot, plus four more daily game puzzles.

Every day: Five numbered video game puzzles a day, the same for every player: guess a game from its inventory, guess a game from a redacted description, spot the flop among five games, find the imposter, and sort nine games into three groups. New puzzle: Once a day (the site does not state the hour).

Lootdle is a free daily guessing site for video game fans. Its main puzzle shows items from a game's inventory and adds one more for every wrong guess, and four other daily modes test what you know about descriptions, review scores and shared traits. Every daily has an archive numbered from day 1.

About Lootdle

Lootdle is an independent fan project built around one idea: a game can be recognised from the things you carry in it. The main daily puzzle shows an inventory of items from one video game. Each wrong guess reveals another item, so the picture builds up until you name the game.

Four more dailies sit beside it. Descri-dle gives a description of a game with the telling words blacked out, and wrong guesses uncover more of it. 5 or Flop shows five games and asks which one has the lowest Metacritic score. Imposter lists five games that share something, except one, and you pick the odd one out. Connections lays out nine games that fall into three secret groups of three.

Every daily mode has its own archive, numbered from day 1, so a missed day can be played later. There are also two endless modes outside the daily set: a Metacritic higher-or-lower streak and a HowLongToBeat higher-or-lower streak.

Lootdle suits players who like Gamedle or Framed-style guessing but want several small game puzzles in one place each day.

Tips

  • Signature weapons and consumables give a game away faster than generic items like keys or coins.
  • In 5 or Flop, look for licensed tie-ins and rushed sequels first.
  • In Connections, find the most specific group before the obvious one; broad links such as genre often overlap.
