Fights in Tight Spaces is a deck-building tactics game set in action-movie brawls. Each card is a move, such as a throw, a kick or a shove, and you position your agent on a small grid of enemies to knock them out with style. Alongside the main campaign, a daily mission lets you compare your score with other players on an online leaderboard.

About Fights in Tight Spaces

Fights in Tight Spaces, developed by Ground Shatter and published by Balor Games, came out on Steam in December 2021. You play an agent of Section Eleven, an organisation that deals with criminal gangs in person. Fights take place in cramped rooms, lifts, trains and bars, shown in a stark white, black and red style. Each turn you draw a hand of cards and spend momentum to move, strike, throw enemies into each other or push them off ledges, while enemy intents show what they will do next.

Between fights you build your deck, upgrade cards and pick your route through a mission, in the manner of Slay the Spire. Levels also have optional objectives, such as protecting a target or finishing within a set number of turns.

The Prove your Worth daily mission is the daily hook: one mission a day, with scores posted to an online leaderboard. The game has had regular updates and expansions (K9 Division and Frights in Tight Spaces in 2025), and a sequel, 2 Fights 2 Tight Spaces, followed in 2026. It suits fans of deck-builders who want positioning to matter as much as the cards.

How to play Fights in Tight Spaces

  1. Start the daily mission from the main menu.
  2. Each turn, play cards from your hand using momentum to move and attack.
  3. Watch enemy intent markers and position your agent to avoid or redirect attacks.
  4. Use throws, shoves and knockdowns to make enemies hit each other or fall.
  5. Finish the mission and see where your score lands on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Positioning is half the game: a shove into another enemy often does more than a punch.
  • Read every enemy intent before ending your turn.
  • Keep your deck lean so key cards come up often.
  • Optional objectives add to your score, so check them at the start of each fight.
