Equate
Find the day's hidden 8-character equation in six guesses, Wordle style.
Every day: One hidden 8-character equation a day, generated from the date so everyone solves the same one, with six guesses and Wordle-style colour feedback. New puzzle: Midnight, your local time.

Equate is a Wordle-style number puzzle on itch.io: each day hides one 8-character equation such as 12+34=46, and you have six tries to find it. Every guess must itself be a true equation, and the tiles turn green or yellow to show which characters are right.
About Equate
Equate is a free browser puzzle by L.Jennings11, playable on its itch.io page on a phone or a computer. It takes the Wordle idea and swaps words for arithmetic: the answer is an equation exactly eight characters long, and you find it by entering equations of your own.
The hidden equations have one operation, plus, minus or times, between two numbers, followed by an equals sign and the result, as in 12+34=46 or 91*2=182. Each guess has to be a true equation of eight characters, typed on the on-screen number pad or a physical keyboard. After you submit, a green tile means the right character in the right place and a yellow tile means the character is in the equation but somewhere else. Repeated characters are scored the same careful way Wordle scores repeated letters.
The daily equation is generated from the date, so everyone playing that day solves the same one, and a new one arrives at midnight on your own clock. You get six rows. When you finish, the game shows how many guesses you took, keeps a daily streak and lets you copy a result to share. A Practice button gives you fresh equations whenever you want more.
It suits players who already enjoy equation guessers like Nerdle and want a quick, clean daily version with no account.
How to play Equate
- Open the itch.io page and run the game; the daily puzzle loads first.
- Enter a true 8-character equation, such as 12+34=46, with the number pad or your keyboard.
- Submit it and read the colours: green is the right character in the right place, yellow is in the equation but elsewhere.
- Use what you learn to build your next equation; you have six guesses.
- Share your result, or press Practice to keep playing with new equations.
Tips
- Find the operator early: the answer has just one, so placing +, - or * in different spots narrows it fast.
- Count where the equals sign can sit: with eight characters the result is usually two or three digits long.
- Pick opening guesses that use many different digits to rule out as many as possible.
Questions
Is Equate the same for everyone?
Yes. The daily equation comes from the date, so everyone who plays that day gets the same puzzle.
When does a new Equate puzzle come out?
The game uses your device's date, so the new equation arrives at midnight your local time.
Does every guess have to be a real equation?
Yes. A guess must be eight characters and mathematically true, or it is not accepted.
Can I play more than once a day?
The daily is one puzzle, but Practice mode gives you new equations any time.
