Daily Letter Hunt is a free browser word game from PlayNib with three dated challenges each day: a 5, a 6 and a 7-letter hidden word, six guesses each. Every letter you enter is labelled right spot, in word or miss, and once the daily word is done you can keep playing extra words. No sign-up is needed.
About Daily Letter Hunt
Daily Letter Hunt is a Wordle-style guessing game on PlayNib, a site of free browser games that play without an account. Instead of one word a day it gives three dated challenges: Hunt 5, Hunt 6 and Hunt 7, one hidden word for each length, and you pick which one to play with the buttons at the top of the board.
A round goes the familiar way. You type a real word of the right length and press Hunt, and each letter comes back marked: right spot when it sits in the correct position, in word when the answer has it somewhere else, and miss when it is not in the answer at all. The marks are written on the tiles as well as shown in colour, so the clues read without relying on colour alone. A guess history down the page keeps every row, and you have six guesses to find the word.
When the daily challenge is finished, Play another word starts extra words of the same length, as many as you like, without waiting for tomorrow. Your games played, wins, win rate, best streak and guess distribution are kept in your browser's local storage, and the result of the dated daily challenge can be shared.
The longer 6 and 7-letter hunts make it a step up for players who find a single five-letter word a day too short, and the text labels suit anyone who has trouble telling the usual tile colours apart.
How to play Daily Letter Hunt
- Open the game and choose Hunt 5, Hunt 6 or Hunt 7 for the word length you want.
- Type a real word with that many letters and press Hunt.
- Read each tile: right spot means the letter is in the correct position, in word means it belongs elsewhere, miss means it is not in the answer.
- Use the guess history to plan your next word, keeping right-spot letters fixed and moving in-word letters.
- Find the word in six guesses or fewer, then try the other two lengths or press Play another word for extra words.
Tips
- Open with a word of different common letters and two vowels to sort out many letters at once.
- Never reuse a letter marked miss; every guess should test new letters or new positions.
- Move in-word letters to a different position each guess rather than repeating the same pattern.
- Play Hunt 5 first: the letters it confirms often help with the longer words' common endings.
Questions
Is there a new Daily Letter Hunt every day?
Yes. Each day has a dated challenge for each of the three lengths, 5, 6 and 7 letters, and the date comes from your device's clock, so a new set starts at your local midnight.
Do I need an account?
No. The game plays in the browser without signing in, and your stats and streaks are kept in local storage on that device.
Can I play more than the daily word?
Yes. After the daily challenge, Play another word gives extra words of the same length with no limit.
