A Dominosa grid of numbers being paired into dominoes, from puzzle-dominosa.com

Dominosa hands you a grid of numbers and asks you to cut it into dominoes so that every possible pair of numbers appears exactly once. Puzzle-dominosa.com has a dated Special Daily Dominosa that everyone shares, alongside grids from 3x3 to 20x20 and weekly and monthly specials.

About Daily Dominosa

Dominosa starts from a full set of dominoes that has been laid out in a rectangle with the borders rubbed away. All you see are the numbers. Your job is to draw the dominoes back in, joining each cell to one neighbour, so that every pair of numbers, doubles included, turns up exactly once. A standard 0 to 6 set fits in an 8 by 7 rectangle; bigger sets give bigger grids.

The Special Daily Dominosa on puzzle-dominosa.com is one puzzle per date, identical for every player, with the date printed under the board. The daily can be very large: the 2 October 2026 puzzle used the numbers 0 to 25 on a 27 by 26 grid, which means 351 dominoes to place. Outside the daily, the site lists grids from 3x3 up to 20x20, weekly and monthly specials, and a Hall of Fame for those standard sizes. It is free with ads, patrons can drop the ads, and the site links to the PuzzleGym app for iPhone and Android. Patrons of the site can go back through the last 30 daily puzzles; everyone else plays the current day's.

Dominosa suits players who like bookkeeping as much as logic: much of the work is keeping track of which pairs are already used. It is a good change from shading and number-placing puzzles.

How to play Daily Dominosa

  1. Open the Special Daily Dominosa on puzzle-dominosa.com; the puzzle's date is shown beneath the grid.
  2. Left-click between two neighbouring numbers to join them into a domino.
  3. Right-click between two numbers to draw a border where you are sure no domino goes.
  4. Cover every cell with exactly one domino, and use each pair of numbers, such as 3 and 5 or 4 and 4, only once.
  5. When the grid is fully paired, submit it to check your answer and time.

Tips

  • Find pairs that appear in only one place on the grid; that domino is fixed, and every other neighbour of its two cells can be walled off.
  • A cell with only one free neighbour must pair with it; corners and cells boxed in by borders are where this happens first.
  • When a pair is placed, draw a border between every other adjacent copy of that same pair.
  • On a big daily, keep a written list or mental note of placed pairs for the numbers you are working on.
