A Stitches grid of coloured blocks joined by stitches with row and column counts, from puzzle-stitches.com

Stitches is a region puzzle: the grid is split into blocks, and you join every pair of neighbouring blocks with stitches across their shared border while matching the counts of holes on each row and column. Puzzle-stitches.com has a dated Special Daily Stitches for everyone, plus 5x5 to 15x15 grids and weekly and monthly specials.

About Daily Stitches

A Stitches grid is divided into blocks of cells. A stitch joins two cells that sit side by side in different blocks, and each end of a stitch is a hole. Every block has to be joined to each of its neighbouring blocks by a set number of stitches, no cell may hold more than one hole, and the numbers outside the grid say how many holes are in each row and column. In the basic 1÷ form every pair of neighbouring blocks gets one stitch; 2÷, 3÷ and 4÷ puzzles need two, three or four.

Puzzle-stitches.com runs the daily as the Special Daily Stitches, the same puzzle for all players on its date, which is printed under the grid. The daily for 2 October 2026 was a 4÷ puzzle on a 10 by 10 grid, so each pair of touching blocks needed four separate stitches. The rest of the site has 5x5 to 15x15 grids in 1÷, 2÷ and 3÷ forms at Normal and Hard, weekly and monthly specials, and a Hall of Fame for the standard sizes. It is free with ads, patrons can turn the ads off, and the site links to the PuzzleGym app for iPhone and Android. Patrons of the site can go back through the last 30 daily puzzles; everyone else plays the current day's.

Stitches suits players who like row and column count puzzles such as Battleships or Aquarium but want a different shape of problem, built around the borders between regions rather than the cells inside them.

How to play Daily Stitches

  1. Open the Special Daily Stitches on puzzle-stitches.com and note the number of stitches each border needs, shown as 1÷, 2÷, 3÷ or 4÷ in the title.
  2. Click on the border between two cells in different blocks to place a stitch; each stitch puts a hole in both cells.
  3. Join every block to each neighbouring block with exactly the required number of stitches.
  4. Never let two stitches share a cell; each cell holds at most one hole.
  5. Match the number of holes in each row and column to the clues outside the grid, then submit.

Tips

  • Right-click a border to colour it red when you know no stitch can cross there; it narrows the options for that pair of blocks.
  • A short shared border between two blocks has few places for its stitches; on a 4÷ grid a border of exactly four cell pairs is decided at once.
  • Rows and columns with a count of 0 rule out every stitch that would put a hole in them.
  • Count holes per block too: a block needs one hole for every stitch to every neighbour, so a small block with many neighbours has little room to spare.

Questions

What do 1÷, 2÷ and 4÷ mean?

How many stitches must join each pair of neighbouring blocks. A 4÷ puzzle needs four stitches across every shared border.

When does the daily Stitches change?

Once a day, at midnight UTC, by the date on the site's own clock.

Can two stitches use the same cell?

No. Two stitches may not share a hole, so each cell can be part of only one stitch.
