A Masyu grid with black and white circles and a single loop, from puzzle-masyu.com

Masyu is a loop puzzle: draw a single closed path that visits every black and white circle while obeying how each circle bends the line. Puzzle-masyu.com posts a dated Special Daily Masyu for everyone, with standard grids from 6x6 to 25x25 and weekly and monthly specials between days.

About Daily Masyu

A Masyu grid is a field of dots with some black and white circles, often called pearls. You draw lines between neighbouring dots to make one loop that never crosses or branches and passes through every circle. A white circle must be crossed in a straight line, and the loop has to turn in the cell just before it, just after it, or both. A black circle must be a corner, and the loop has to go straight through the cells on both sides of that corner.

Puzzle-masyu.com's daily game is the Special Daily Masyu, one puzzle per date that every player receives. The 2 October 2026 grid was 30 by 30, bigger than the standard 25x25 Hard, so it is a long solve. The site also keeps Easy, Normal and Hard grids from 6x6 to 25x25 on hand, special weekly and monthly puzzles, and a Hall of Fame for the standard sizes. It is free with ads, patrons can remove them, and the puzzles also appear in the PuzzleGym app for iPhone and Android. Patrons of the site can go back through the last 30 daily puzzles; everyone else plays the current day's.

Masyu suits people who enjoy line-drawing puzzles such as Slitherlink, and anyone who likes rules that look simple and lead to long chains of forced moves.

How to play Daily Masyu

  1. Open the Special Daily Masyu on puzzle-masyu.com; the puzzle's date is printed under the grid.
  2. Left-click between two dots to draw a line segment, and right-click to mark a gap with an X where the line cannot go.
  3. Join segments into one closed loop that does not cross itself or branch.
  4. Pass straight through every white circle, and make sure the loop turns in the cell before or after it.
  5. Turn on every black circle, and go straight for at least one more cell on both sides of the turn.
  6. When the loop visits every circle, submit it to check your solution and time.

Tips

  • A black circle on the edge of the grid or next to the edge must send its line away from that edge, so draw the two-cell arm pointing inward.
  • Three or more white circles in a row must be crossed at right angles to that row, since going along it would leave no room to turn.
  • Two black circles side by side each send their arms away from the other.
  • Mark impossible segments with X as you go; a dot with only two open directions left fixes the line through it.

Questions

When is the new daily Masyu posted?

Once a day, by the date on the site's clock, which runs on UTC.

How large is the daily puzzle?

Usually larger than the standard sizes; the daily for 2 October 2026 was 30 by 30.

Is Masyu like Slitherlink?

Both ask for one closed loop, but in Masyu the clues are circles on the path that control where it turns, not numbers counting the sides around a cell.
