Shingoki, also called Semaphores, is a loop puzzle: draw a single closed path through every circle, going straight through white ones and turning at black ones, while each circle's number fixes the length of the straight lines leaving it. Puzzle-shingoki.com has a dated Special Daily Shingoki for everyone, plus grids from 5x5 to 25x25.
About Daily Shingoki
Shingoki is played on a grid of dots with black and white circles scattered over it, most of them holding a number. You draw lines between neighbouring dots to make one loop with no crossings or branches that passes through every circle. The loop must go straight through a white circle and must turn at a black one. The number in a circle is the total length of the two straight stretches leaving it: for a white circle that is the whole straight run through it, and for a black circle it is the two arms of the corner added together.
Puzzle-shingoki.com's daily game is the Special Daily Shingoki, the same for every player on its date, which appears under the grid. The 2 October 2026 puzzle was 30 by 30, bigger than the largest standard size. The site also has Easy, Normal and Hard grids from 5x5 to 25x25, weekly and monthly specials, and a Hall of Fame for the standard sizes. It is free with ads, patrons can remove them, and the site links to the PuzzleGym app for iPhone and Android. Patrons of the site can go back through the last 30 daily puzzles; everyone else plays the current day's.
Shingoki suits players who already enjoy Masyu and want the extra arithmetic of the numbers, and anyone who likes long loop puzzles where the counting does much of the work.
How to play Daily Shingoki
- Open the Special Daily Shingoki on puzzle-shingoki.com; the date is printed below the grid.
- Left-click between two dots to draw a line segment, and right-click to mark a gap with an X.
- Build one closed loop with no crossings or branches that passes through every circle.
- Go straight through each white circle and turn at each black circle.
- Make the two straight stretches leaving each numbered circle add up to its number, then submit the loop.
Tips
- A black circle with a 2 has arms of one segment each, so its corner is fixed as soon as you know which way it turns.
- A circle near the edge cannot send a long arm toward the border; compare its number with the room on each side.
- A straight stretch ends where the loop turns, so the dot at the end of a measured arm is a corner; mark the segment straight beyond it with an X.
- Two white circles on the same straight stretch must carry the same number, so if their numbers differ the loop cannot run straight through both.
Questions
How is Shingoki different from Masyu?
Both use black and white circles on a single loop, but in Shingoki the circles carry numbers that give the length of the straight lines leaving them, and the turn rules around the circles are simpler.
When does the daily Shingoki change?
Once a day, at midnight UTC, by the date on the site's own clock.
How big is the daily puzzle?
Often larger than the standard sizes; the daily for 2 October 2026 was 30 by 30.
