A Pipes grid of rotated pipe tiles forming a network, from puzzle-pipes.com

Pipes, also called FreeNet, is a rotation puzzle: each tile holds a piece of pipe, and you turn tiles until all of them link into one network with no closed loops. Puzzle-pipes.com posts a Special Daily Pipes and a Special Daily Pipes Wrap each day, along with grids from 4x4 to 25x25.

About Daily Pipes

A Pipes grid is full of tiles, each showing a piece of pipe: an end, a straight, a bend or a junction. The pieces are in the right cells but turned the wrong way. You rotate them until every open end meets another, so that all the pipes form a single connected network, and no part of it closes into a loop. Nothing moves except by rotation, so the puzzle is about which way each tile faces.

Puzzle-pipes.com has two daily puzzles. The Special Daily Pipes is the main one, the same for every player on its date, which appears under the grid; on 2 October 2026 it was 30 by 30. The Special Daily Pipes Wrap is the same idea on a grid whose edges join up, so a pipe leaving one side comes back on the opposite side. The site also offers grids from 4x4 to 25x25 in plain and wrap versions, weekly and monthly specials, and a Hall of Fame for the standard sizes. It is free with ads, patrons can turn them off, and the site links to the PuzzleGym app for iPhone and Android. Patrons of the site can go back through the last 30 daily puzzles; everyone else plays the current day's.

Pipes suits people who like a calm, visual puzzle with few rules. It is a gentle place to start for players new to this family of logic sites.

How to play Daily Pipes

  1. Open the Special Daily Pipes on puzzle-pipes.com, or the Special Daily Pipes Wrap for the wrapping version.
  2. Click a tile to turn it; Ctrl and click turns it the other way.
  3. Turn tiles so that each pipe end meets a pipe end on the neighbouring tile and no end points out of the grid or into a blank side.
  4. Right-click a tile you are sure of to fix it in place so it cannot be turned by accident.
  5. Join everything into one network without closing any loop, then submit to see your time.

Tips

  • Start at the border: on the plain grid no pipe may point outward, which fixes most edge and corner tiles.
  • Two end pieces next to each other may not face each other, since that would make a closed pair cut off from the network.
  • A straight piece only has two positions; if one is blocked by the edge or a fixed neighbour, it is solved.
  • Lock tiles as you settle them; on a 30 by 30 grid it is easy to bump a finished tile.

Questions

What is the difference between Pipes and Pipes Wrap?

In Pipes Wrap the edges of the grid connect, so a pipe can run off one side and continue on the opposite side. Both have their own daily puzzle on puzzle-pipes.com.

When does the daily Pipes change?

Once a day, at midnight UTC, by the date on the site's own clock.

Are closed loops allowed?

No. All pipes must form one connected network, and none of it may close into a loop.
