Curdle
Name the day's cheese from a zoomed-in photo in eight guesses.
Every day: One cheese a day, the same for every player, shown in a close-up photo that zooms out after each wrong guess: name it in eight tries. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone; the game counts days on your device's clock.

Curdle is a daily cheese guessing game. It starts with an extreme close-up of one cheese and zooms out a step after every wrong answer. You pick from a list that can be filtered by milk and firmness, and the game tells you which of those your guesses got right.
About Curdle
Curdle takes the Wordle idea to the cheese counter. Each day there is one cheese, chosen from the day's number so everyone gets the same one. The photo starts zoomed in eight times, showing only rind, holes or paste, and widens with every miss.
You choose your guesses from the game's cheese list, which shows each cheese's milk, firmness and country flag and can be filtered by cow, sheep, goat or other milk and by soft, semi-soft, semi-hard or hard. After a wrong guess the game says what the answer is not and what it is, such as a cow's milk, hard cheese, once your guesses have matched those traits. After six misses it names the country the cheese comes from.
You have eight guesses, shown as a row of cheese wedges that turn to milk as you use them. A chart keeps your guess distribution, and you can share your score. The answers rotate through a pool of cheeses, so regulars will meet familiar ones again.
Curdle is made by Gumbo Systems, who ask players to send in their own cheese photos. It suits anyone who knows their Comté from their Gruyère, or wants to learn.
How to play Curdle
- Open Curdle and study the zoomed-in photo of the day's cheese.
- Filter the cheese list by milk type and firmness if you want to narrow it.
- Pick a cheese and submit your guess.
- Read the reply: what the answer is not, and which milk and firmness it has.
- Guess again as the photo zooms out, up to eight times.
- Share your score when you have it.
Tips
- Use the first guesses to fix the milk and firmness, then the list filters do most of the work.
- Look at the rind and the holes: bloomy, washed and natural rinds point to different families.
- The country hint arrives after six misses, so keep two guesses in hand for it.
- The answers repeat from a pool, so a cheese you learned once may come back.
