Phoodle is a daily word puzzle about food in the manner of Wordle. Each day there is one five-letter answer, which can be an ingredient, a cooking technique, a kitchen gadget or another food term, and you have six tries to find it. After the game, a short fact about the word links to more reading.

About Phoodle

Phoodle takes the Wordle format and gives it a theme: every answer has something to do with food. The word might be an ingredient, a dish, a cooking method or a tool you would find in a kitchen drawer, so solving it calls on both spelling instincts and what you know about cooking.

The rules are the familiar ones. You type five-letter words and the tiles change colour after each guess: green when a letter is in the word and in the right spot, yellow when it is in the word but somewhere else, and grey when it is not in the word at all. You have six tries.

When the round is over, Phoodle shows a short fact related to the day's answer with a button to read more, which turns a quick puzzle into a small food lesson. You can share your result as a grid, and a free Phoodle account keeps your statistics and guess distribution. On the first Monday of each month the site also runs a Mini Monday Crossword.

The puzzle numbering starts on 8 May 2022, and a new word comes out at midnight on your own device's clock.

  4. Find the word within six tries.
  5. Read the food fact for the day's word and share your result.

Tips

  • Remember that answers can be cooking techniques or kitchen tools, not only ingredients.
  • Open with a word that uses common letters, such as a food word with several vowels.
  • When you have a pattern, list foods, dishes and verbs like baking or frying terms that fit it.
  • Regular Wordle habits still apply: avoid reusing grey letters.
