Zebra Puzzles (Puzzleship)
Rate itMatch each person's position, name, colour and more from a list of clues, one puzzle a day.
Every day: One numbered zebra puzzle a day, the same for everyone (No. 1009 on 5 October 2026): people in a row, four attributes each, and clues that fix every match. New puzzle: Midnight, your local time.

Zebra Puzzles on Puzzleship is a daily logic puzzle in the Einstein riddle tradition. Each numbered puzzle lines up people or things, each with several attributes, such as four men in a vet's waiting room with different shirts, names, pets and arrival times, and gives a list of clues that pin down exactly one arrangement.
About Zebra Puzzles (Puzzleship)
Puzzleship's Zebra Puzzles page publishes one numbered puzzle a day, number 1009 on 5 October 2026. Each comes with a short scenario: that day, Waiting Room Pets, four men sitting side by side at the vet, each in a different coloured shirt, with a different name, pet and arrival time. A grid has a column for each position and a dropdown for each attribute, and below it about a dozen clues such as Charles is in the third position or The man wearing the yellow shirt has the goldfish.
You fill in the dropdowns as you deduce, ticking off clues as you use them, with undo, redo and reset. The method never changes: eliminate what cannot be until only one arrangement survives. Puzzleship describes the zebra puzzle as the original of the form, the riddle usually credited to Einstein, and the least restricted version of it. Printable versions are offered too.
New daily puzzles arrive at midnight in your own time zone, and the archive keeps past puzzles. The site shows ads, with a paid Premium plan to remove them. It sits among Puzzleship's many daily logic games, such as Einstein Riddles and House Puzzles.
How to play Zebra Puzzles (Puzzleship)
- Read the scenario and the attributes: positions plus, for example, shirt, name, pet and arrival time.
- Read the clues and fill in what they state directly, such as a name in a given position.
- Combine clues to rule out options, ticking each clue off as you use it.
- Fill every dropdown so that all clues hold; there is exactly one solution.
- Use the archive for past puzzles, or print one to solve on paper.
Tips
- Start with clues that name a position outright, such as in the third position or at one of the ends.
- Chain clues that share an attribute: if the green shirt arrived at 10:10 and Quincy arrived at 10:10, Quincy wears green.
- Watch for left of and next to clues, which limit positions without fixing them.
- If you get stuck, list the remaining options for one attribute and test each against the clues.
