Logicle puzzle #24: the cluebook, a round dinner table with eight empty numbered chairs, and six painted guest portraits with their feature labels

Logicle is a free daily logic puzzle set at a round dinner table. Each day you read eight guest portraits and a cluebook, work out who is who, and seat everyone in the right chair before the target time. Stars, a streak and an archive of past tables bring players back.

About Logicle

Logicle is a browser puzzle built around one dinner party a day. The table has eight numbered chairs, and beside it sit six to eight painted portraits of guests. Each portrait carries labels for what you can see: the guest's work, the object they carry, the drink in front of them, their hair, clothes and jewellery. The guests' names are not on the portraits; you learn them from the clues.

The cluebook has two kinds of clue. Portrait clues tie a name to something you can see (Alex is drinking rose tea, Blair has red hair). Table clues place people around the table: who sits in a given chair, who sits next to or across from whom, who sits a number of chairs clockwise from someone else, and who sits between two others. Put the two together and only one seating is left.

You drag a portrait onto a chair, or select a portrait and then a chair, and cross out clues as you use them. A scratchpad holds your notes, and each portrait has a box for a name or note. When all eight seats are filled you submit the table. The score is out of five stars, with points for speed against the day's target time and a bonus for a clean solve. Two extra hints are on offer, each revealing a further clue at the cost of part of that bonus, and you can give up at any time for no stars.

The first daily table appeared on 23 September 2026, and every past table can be played from the archive. There are achievements to collect, a day streak, and a result you can copy and share. It plays without an account; progress is kept in the browser, with a backup file you can download and restore.

It suits players who like Einstein or zebra puzzles but want something to look at: the seating plan replaces the usual grid, and half the information is in the pictures.

How to play Logicle

  1. Open the day's table and read the cluebook on the left and the guest portraits on the right.
  2. Use the portrait clues to match names to portraits by the details shown on each one, and note the names in the boxes above the portraits.
  3. Use the table clues to work out the seating: fixed chairs first, then neighbours, people across from each other, and counts clockwise from chair 1 to 8.
  4. Drag each portrait onto its chair, or select it and then pick a chair, and click clues to cross them out as you apply them.
  5. Submit the table once all eight chairs are filled, ideally before the target time, to earn up to five stars.

Tips

  • Start with a table clue that names a fixed chair, then chain neighbour clues from it.
  • Several guests can share a feature such as earrings or black hair, so check every portrait that matches before you rule one in.
  • Across from means four chairs away on an eight-seat table, and between means the two chairs directly on either side.
  • Save the extra hints for when you are truly stuck: each one costs part of the clean-play bonus.

Questions

When does a new Logicle table come out?

A new table is published each day at midnight Eastern Time, with a countdown to the next one shown on the page.

Can I play earlier tables?

Yes. The archive lists every table since the first one on 23 September 2026, and you can filter it by unplayed, completed or given up.

Do I need an account?

No. Logicle plays in the browser without signing up, and keeps your progress on your device. You can download a backup and restore it later.

How is a table scored?

Out of five stars, from how many seats are right, your time against the day's target, and a bonus for solving without the extra hints.
