Alibi Daily Logic Grid

A 1920s murder case each night, solved on a pencil-style logic grid.

Every day: One numbered case file at midnight, the same board for everyone in the world: four suspects, rooms, weapons and times to match from a list of clues on a cross-reference grid. New puzzle: Midnight (the listing does not name the time zone).

Case File No. 87 in Alibi Daily Logic Grid: twelve clues above a time-by-suspect grid with ticks and crosses

Alibi Daily Logic Grid is an iPhone logic-grid puzzle dressed as a 1920s detective bureau. Each night brings one numbered case, the same for everyone: four suspects, four rooms, four weapons and four times, a sheet of clues and a cross-reference grid. Mark the grid until one arrangement is left, then name the culprit.

About Alibi Daily Logic Grid

Alibi Daily Logic Grid is a classic zebra or Einstein-style elimination puzzle with a murder-mystery frame. Each case file, numbered like Case File No. 87, pins four suspects, four rooms, four weapons and four times of the evening. On the left is The Evidence, a list of about a dozen clues such as 'The coroner fixes the murder at 10 PM' or 'Lady Vane was in the Study'. Below is The Cross-Reference, a set of grids pairing time with who, where and what.

You work it like a paper grid. Tapping a cell cycles it through blank, a dash and an X, and confirming a pairing automatically crosses out the rest of its row and column, so the pencil-work is done for you. You cross out what the clues forbid until each row and column has one survivor. When the board is complete you close the case, and the culprit is the suspect matching the coroner's time of death.

Each clue set is complete and consistent, so plain elimination always reaches the one answer, with no guessing. Getting it right without a wrong mark counts as a clean solve; each wrong mark is counted. The case resets at midnight and is the same board for everyone in the world. The app keeps your streak, best streak and clean-solve rate, gives you a spoiler-free share card, and opens a practice bench with unlimited fresh cases once the daily is closed.

The app is made by Jordan Wegner and came out on the App Store in July 2026. It is entirely offline and collects nothing. It suits players who enjoy logic-grid books and murder-mystery puzzles like Murdle.

How to play Alibi Daily Logic Grid

  1. Open the day's case file and read The Evidence.
  2. Find a clue that pairs two things directly and mark it on the matching grid.
  3. Cross out pairings the clues rule out; a confirmed pairing crosses out the rest of its row and column for you.
  4. Combine clues across the time, who, where and what grids until each row and column has one survivor.
  5. Close the case and name the culprit: the suspect matching the coroner's time of death.

Tips

  • Mark the direct clues first ('X was in the Cellar'); they settle whole rows at once.
  • Read the coroner's clue early: the culprit is whoever ends up at that time.
  • Carry what you learn between grids: if a suspect is at 8 PM and the Poison was seen at 8 PM, the Poison is theirs.
  • Only mark what a clue proves. A wrong mark costs your clean solve, so leave uncertain cells blank.
