Verdict is a daily detective logic-grid game. Each day three cases open, Easy, Medium and Hard, and you place every suspect, item and alibi in a row of rooms using written clues that fit exactly one way. The daily cases are free, with no ads and no account needed.

About Verdict

Verdict is a logic-grid game from Endpaper Labs, in the family of zebra puzzles and Einstein's riddle. Each case is a row of numbered positions, such as rooms along a hall or compartments on a night train, a set of people and things to place in them, and a list of clues. Every clue is true, and together they allow exactly one arrangement.

Three cases open every day at midnight UTC: Easy, Medium and Hard. Everyone at the same level gets the same case, and closing any one of the three keeps your streak going. Alongside them come a daily Lineup, a Briefing and seven short brain teasers, twelve free plays in all.

You solve by clicking a slot and then a value, marking eliminations as you go, and parking a group of values to slide into place once the clues pin it down. The case notes tick off each clue as it is satisfied. If you are stuck, a hint explains the next deduction rather than giving the answer, and the game promises that no case ever needs a guess.

The daily game is free in the browser and in the iPhone and Android apps, with no ads. A paid Verdict Pro adds the archive of past cases, a weekly Cold Case and other extras. It suits players who like Murdle or Clues by Sam and want a pure deduction puzzle of a chosen size each day.

How to play Verdict

  1. Open verdictpuzzle.com or the app and pick today's Easy, Medium or Hard case.
  2. Read the clues: each one says where a person or thing is relative to the others.
  3. Click a slot, then a value, to place it; mark values a slot cannot hold to rule them out.
  4. Keep going until every slot holds exactly one value and every clue is ticked.
  5. Close the case, share your time and come back after midnight UTC for three new ones.

Tips

  • Start with clues that name a single position, such as the first or last room.
  • Clues of the form 'right next to' and 'lower-numbered than' cut options fast when combined.
  • Use a hint when stuck: it teaches the next deduction without giving away the answer.
