Logic Daily is an app of classic logic grid problems: read the clues and cross off the grid until every person, item and number is matched. Its Daily Challenge adds a new free puzzle each day, and global leaderboards let you compare your time with other players.

About Logic Daily: Grid Puzzles

Logic Daily (also called Logic Puzzles Daily) is an iPhone and iPad app built around the logic grid puzzle, the kind found in puzzle magazines. Each problem gives a short story, several categories such as names, days and reasons, and a list of clues. You mark the grid with crosses and dots until each item in one category is paired with exactly one in every other.

It is made by Twin Wizards, a team that says it has been solving these puzzles for decades, and has been on the App Store since 2016. The app now holds more than 4,000 puzzles, from easy to very hard.

The daily part is the Daily Challenge: a new logic problem appears every day for free, on top of the starter set and paid puzzle packs. A timer runs as you solve, and global leaderboards and a character called the Professor, who sets a target time for each grid, give you something to beat. Hints, an error checker, automatic crosses, multi-level undo and a notes area help on the harder grids.

It suits players who enjoy careful, pen-and-paper style deduction and want one fresh grid to solve each day, rather than quick word or number games.

How to play Logic Daily: Grid Puzzles

  1. Open Logic Daily and choose the Daily Challenge.
  2. Read the puzzle's story, categories and numbered clues.
  3. Tap a grid cell once to rule out a pairing with a cross, or again to confirm it with a dot.
  4. Use each clue in turn until every item is matched in every category.
  5. Submit the solved grid and compare your time on the leaderboard.

Tips

  • Look first for clues that rule out pairings directly, such as 'Aaron was off for two days less than Alan'.
  • When a row has only one empty cell left, it must be the answer; turn on automatic crosses to save taps.
  • Write partial deductions in the notes area on bigger grids.
