Zag daily puzzles on Puzzleship

Zag is a path puzzle in the style of Numbrix. One continuous line has to visit the numbered checkpoints in ascending order and also pass through every empty cell, without crossing itself.

About Zag (Puzzleship)

Zag combines two easy goals that work against each other. The line must reach checkpoint 1, then 2, then 3 and so on, and it must also cover every cell on the grid. The shortest route between two checkpoints is rarely the one that collects the cells you would otherwise strand.

It is the same puzzle as Numbrix, drawn rather than written: instead of filling every square with consecutive numbers you trace the line those numbers would make. Solving it leg by leg works well, watching corners, which have only two ways in, and pockets of cells with a single entrance, which are already lost unless the line finishes there. LinkedIn's Zip has very similar rules.

Puzzleship publishes six grids of Zag a day, graded from very easy to ultra hard. Each day's grids are numbered and dated, the same for every player, and appear at midnight in your own time zone; earlier days stay playable in the archive. The site is free with ads, and a premium plan removes them.

How to play Zag (Puzzleship)

  1. Open Zag and pick one of the day's six grids.
  2. Click or drag from the first checkpoint to start the line.
  3. Visit the numbered checkpoints in ascending order.
  4. Pass through every cell without crossing your own line.
  5. Drag back along the line, or click a cell on it, to undo.

Tips

  • Treat each stretch between two checkpoints as its own small problem.
  • Do not leave a corner behind; it has only two ways in.
  • Any pocket of cells with one entrance is lost unless the line ends there.
  • Plan the last checkpoint's leg early; the line has to finish somewhere sensible.
