About Wurdle (Frysk)

Wurdle, subtitled Yn it Frysk, brings Wordle to West Frisian, spoken in the Dutch province of Friesland. Its About panel credits the translation to Bernardus Jansen, notes that the word list and translations were made possible by Frisian.eu, the Fryske Akademy's dictionary services, and points to the open-source react-wordle code it is built on.

The game itself works as Wordle does. You type a five-letter Frisian word and press Enter, and each tile changes colour: green when the letter is in the word and in the right place, yellow when it is in the word but elsewhere, grey when it is not in the word at all. Every text in the game is in Frisian, from the instructions, Besykje it WURDLE yn 6 kear te rieden, to the delete key, Fuorthelje. A statistics panel shows how your results are spread, and there is a dark mode.

The answer is chosen by counting days from 17 January 2022, so every player gets the same word on the same day. The word changes at 22:00 UTC. Wurdle runs in the browser with no account.

How to play Wurdle (Frysk)

1. Open Wurdle and type a five-letter West Frisian word.
2. Press Enter to check it.
3. Read the tiles: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
4. Use those clues in your next guess.
5. Find the word in six tries or fewer.

Tips

• Frisian spelling uses combinations such as ij, ou and ea; try them when single vowels do not fit.
• Open with a word with common letters like e, n, r, s and t.
• If a guess is refused it is not in the game's word list; Frisian.eu's dictionary can confirm a spelling.
