About Woordle

Woordle is a word game in Dutch; the answers are Dutch words and the interface is in Dutch, with an English setting for the menus. It went online in January 2022 as a Dutch version of Wordle, and its credits name pingiun solutions as the maker, with the code published on GitHub. It belongs to jellespelletjes.nl, a small group of Dutch word games that share one account.

The day's puzzle is a five-letter word, the same for every player, and you have six turns. After each guess the squares change colour to show how close you were: one colour for a letter in the right place, another for a letter in the word but elsewhere, and a third for a letter that is not in it. When the day's word is solved, the game offers to continue with Woordle6, a second daily word of six letters, and then points to Lettersoep, a Scrabble-like word game from the same site.

Without an account your statistics stay in the browser. With a free jellespelletjes account, your streak and results are saved on the server and follow you to other devices. The site shows ads.

Woordle suits Dutch and Flemish speakers and people learning Dutch who want a short puzzle a day in the language, with a slightly longer second word for those who want more.

How to play Woordle

1. Open woordle.nl and type a five-letter Dutch word.
2. Press ENTER and read the colours: a letter in the right place, a letter in the word but in another place, or a letter not in the word.
3. Use the hints for your next guess and find the word within six turns.
4. After solving it, choose to continue to Woordle6 for the day's six-letter word.
5. Share your result, or sign in with a jellespelletjes account to keep your streak on every device.

Tips

• Dutch has many words with double vowels such as EE and OO: check for a repeated letter when the hints stop adding up.
• Common Dutch letters such as E, N, A, T, R and S make a strong first guess.
• Play Woordle6 straight after Woordle while the day's letter patterns are fresh.
