About La palabra del día
La palabra del día is a Spanish-language take on the five-letter guessing game made popular by Wordle. The page describes itself as a daily word game, and its rules say plainly that the word is the same for everyone on a given day.
A day's game is short. You type a valid Spanish word of five letters, and each letter turns green if it is in the word and in the right spot, yellow if it is in the word but somewhere else, and grey if it is not there at all. You have six attempts. The rules spell out how repeated letters are handled: each copy gets its own clue, and green takes priority over yellow. The on-screen keyboard includes the ñ, and on a computer you can type accents and the ñ with the Ctrl key.
Beyond the main word, the site has several other modes. Modo tildes hides a word of five to seven letters that carries an accent, and accented vowels count as separate letters. Modo científico uses a five-to-seven-letter word linked to science. Contrarreloj asks you to guess as many words as you can in five minutes, and Crear lets you hide a word of your own, from three to eleven letters, and send it to friends. The how-to page also links to a countries mode and a Raíz mode.
It suits Spanish speakers and learners who want a short daily puzzle in their language, and players who already know Wordle and want the same routine with ñ and accents in play.
How to play La palabra del día
- Type a valid five-letter Spanish word and press enter.
- Read the colours: green is the right letter in the right place, yellow is in the word but elsewhere, grey is not in the word.
- Use the clues to choose your next word, keeping green letters where they are.
- Find the word within six tries, then share your result or try another mode.

Tips
- On a computer, hold Ctrl to type accents and the ñ: Ctrl + e gives é, Ctrl + n gives ñ.
- Each copy of a repeated letter gets its own colour, so a single grey S does not rule out a second one elsewhere unless both are tested.
- Try Modo tildes when you want a longer word with an accent.
