Termo is a daily word game in Portuguese, made in January 2022 by Fernando Serboncini as a Portuguese version of Wordle. Each day there is one five-letter word for everyone, and the tiles show which letters are in the right place, in the word, or missing. Accents fill in by themselves, and the Dueto and Quarteto modes ask for two or four words at once.

About Termo

Termo is a word game in Portuguese, the language of the page and of every answer. Fernando Serboncini made it in January 2022 as a Portuguese version of Wordle, and it soon became one of the best known Wordle variants in Brazil. The game says it collects no personal data and uses no cookies.

Each day there is one five-letter word, the same for every player, and six tries to find it. After each guess the tiles change colour: one colour for a letter in the right place, another for a letter that is in the word but elsewhere, and a dark tile for a letter that is not there. Accents are filled in by the game and do not count in the hints, so you can type VOVO for VOVÔ. Words can repeat letters.

Two harder modes sit beside the main game. Dueto asks for two words at once with seven tries, and Quarteto for four words with nine tries; every guess goes into all the boards. All three reset at midnight São Paulo time, and a counter shows how long until the next word.

Termo suits Portuguese speakers and learners who want a short daily puzzle in their own language, and players who already know Wordle and want a second word, or four, to chew on.

How to play Termo

  1. Open term.ooo and type a five-letter Portuguese word, without worrying about accents.
  2. Press enter and read the colours: a letter in the right place, a letter in the word but elsewhere, or a letter not in the word.
  3. Use those hints to choose your next guess, and find the word within six tries.
  4. For more, switch to Dueto (two words, seven tries) or Quarteto (four words, nine tries) from the menu.
  5. Share your grid and come back after midnight Brasília time for the next word.

Tips

  • Start with a word rich in common Portuguese vowels and consonants, such as one with A, O, E, R and S.
  • Do not spend a guess on accents: Termo treats É and E as the same letter in the hints.
  • In Quarteto, aim your first few guesses at covering many different letters before trying to solve any single board.
