Wordleo is a daily Wordle in Esperanto, run by the Catalan Esperanto Association. Each day there is one hidden five-letter Esperanto word for everyone and six tries to find it, with coloured tiles after each guess.

About Wordleo

Wordleo is an unofficial Esperanto version of Wordle, adapted and translated by the Kataluna Esperanto-Asocio (Associació Catalana d'Esperanto) and published on its website. Its description, in Esperanto, reads: guess the hidden word in six tries, a new puzzle every day ("Nova enigmo ĉiutage").

You type five-letter Esperanto words, including the accented letters ĉ, ĝ, ĥ, ĵ, ŝ and ŭ. After each guess the tiles show which letters are in the right place, which are in the word but elsewhere, and which are not in it. The settings offer a hard mode, in which every revealed letter must be used in later guesses, and high-contrast colours.

The word is chosen by date, so everyone gets the same one, and it changes at midnight. Because Esperanto is regular, endings such as -o for nouns, -a for adjectives and -i for verbs are strong clues to the last letter.

It suits Esperanto speakers at every level and learners who want a daily vocabulary workout.

How to play Wordleo

  1. Open esperanto.cat/wordleo.
  2. Type a five-letter Esperanto word and press Enter.
  3. Read the tiles: green for the right letter in the right place, yellow for a letter that is in the word elsewhere, grey for a letter not in the word.
  4. Find the word within six tries and come back the next day for a new one.

Tips

  • Esperanto nouns end in -o and adjectives in -a; the last letter of the answer is often one of these.
  • The accented letters ĉ, ĝ, ĥ, ĵ, ŝ and ŭ are separate letters: try them when c, g, h, j, s or u turn grey.
  • Turn on hard mode in the settings for a stricter game.
