WordFlow Puzzle #81 for 2026-10-06: the top word LOOSE, then a chain of empty tile rows starting with C, B, B, B, W and W, with the timer and the Next Letter button

WordFlow gives you the first word of an eight-word chain and the first letter of each word after it. Every word makes a common phrase with the one above it, as game leads to show. Each 15 seconds you wait, or each letter you ask for, costs a strike, so the aim is to finish the day's chain with as few as you can.

About WordFlow

WordFlow is a daily word-chain puzzle. The day's chain runs down the screen as eight rows of tiles: the top word is filled in, and every word below shows only its first letter and how many letters it has. Each word pairs with the one above it to make a familiar phrase or compound, so from LOOSE you look for a six-letter C word that follows it, then a four-letter B word that follows that, and so on to the bottom.

The pressure comes from a 15-second timer on the active word. When it runs out the game reveals the next letter and adds a strike, and the Next Letter button does the same if you ask for help. Solving with no strikes is the goal, and the result can be shared as a strike count once the chain is complete.

Puzzles are numbered and dated, so everyone works on the same chain each day. It plays in the browser with no account.

It suits players who like phrase-chain games such as Chain Reaction or Couples and want a timer to keep the pace up.

How to play WordFlow

  1. Read the top word: it is given in full.
  2. Type the next word, which makes a common phrase with the word above it; its first letter and length are shown.
  3. Watch the 15-second timer: when it runs out a new letter is revealed and you take a strike.
  4. Press Next Letter if you are stuck, at the cost of a strike.
  5. Work down the chain to the last word, then share your strike count.

Tips

  • Say the word above out loud with likely partners: the phrase is usually an everyday one.
  • The letter count rules out many guesses quickly, so count tiles before you type.
  • If a word will not come, try thinking of what must follow it to reach the next first letter below.
