Chain Link (DailyJamm)
Rate itFill a chain of five missing words, each one joining the word above into a compound or phrase.
Every day: One numbered chain a day, the same for every player: the puzzle number is the day of the year in Chicago, with five missing words to find. New puzzle: Midnight America/Chicago (Central Time).

Chain Link gives you a starting word and five blank links below it. Each answer makes a compound word or phrase with the word above, then starts the next pair. Every word is worth up to 3 points, fewer if you need a hint.
About Chain Link (DailyJamm)
Chain Link is a daily word chain on DailyJamm. The chain starts with one word shown at the top, such as LINCOLN, and below it are five hidden words. Each hidden word goes with the one above it to make a familiar compound or phrase, and then pairs with the one below: LINCOLN LOG, LOG CABIN, CABIN FEVER, FEVER DREAM and so on.
Scoring rewards solving without help. A word guessed cold is worth 3 points. Press Hint, or guess wrong once, and the first letter appears, dropping it to 2. A further hint or wrong guess shows a short phrase clue, worth 1 point, and a wrong guess after that, or a skip, scores nothing. Five words make 15 points, and a chain solved with no hints or misses earns a 5-point bonus for 20.
The puzzle number matches the day of the year in America/Chicago, so puzzle #1 is played on 1 January and everyone sees the same chain that day. A new chain arrives at midnight Central Time, with a countdown on the page. Your stats keep games played, average score, perfect games and your streak, and the result can be copied to share.
It suits players who like Hinge, Rechain or Couples: a short daily chain of word pairs, with a scoring system that lets you trade points for hints.
How to play Chain Link (DailyJamm)
- Read the starting word at the top of the chain.
- Type a word that makes a compound word or phrase with it, and press Enter.
- Press Hint if stuck: first the opening letter is shown, then a phrase clue, each lowering the points for that word.
- Each word you find becomes the start of the next pair; carry on down all five links.
- Finish the chain, see your score out of 15 (20 with the perfect bonus) and share it.
Tips
- Each answer has to work with the word above and the word below, so if a guess fits only one side, it may be the wrong word even if it is a real compound.
- A wrong guess costs the same as a hint, so when you are unsure, a hint is no worse than a stab in the dark.
- Try the word both in front and behind: LOG CABIN and CABIN FEVER use the same word as second and then first part.
- Skipping gives 0 for that word but moves you on, which keeps a hard link from ending the game.
Questions
When does Chain Link reset?
At midnight Central Time (America/Chicago).
Is the chain the same for everyone?
Yes. The puzzle number is the day of the year in Chicago, so every player gets the same chain that day.
How is it scored?
Up to 3 points per word: 3 with no help, 2 after the first-letter hint, 1 after the phrase clue, 0 for a skip. A perfect chain of five adds a 5-point bonus for 20.
Do wrong guesses cost anything?
Yes. A wrong guess reveals the next hint, just as pressing Hint does, so the word is worth one point less.
Is it free?
Yes. It plays free in the browser with no account.
