Top Billing
Rank five films by box office, then rank the same five by critic scores.
Every day: One numbered themed night a day, the same for every player: five films to rank first by worldwide box office, then again by critic scores. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Top Billing is a daily movie ranking game. Each night has a theme, such as the films of one year, and five films; you put them in order of worldwide box office, lock it in, then re-order the same five by their critic scores. The end screen shows how far money and reviews split.
About Top Billing
Top Billing is a small daily film game dressed as an old movie palace marquee. It began in August 2026, and each day is a numbered night with its own theme: the movies of 2024, the class of 1999, and so on. Every player gets the same five films.
The night runs in two rounds. In the first, the box office round, you drag the five films into order by how much they took worldwide, then lock in your ranking to see how close you were. In the second you rank the same five again, this time by their critic scores. A film can be a hit and a flop with critics at once, which is the point.
After both rounds the recap sets the two orders side by side, so you can see which films the public and the critics disagreed on, and share your result. Past nights stay playable.
It takes a couple of minutes and suits anyone who likes the box office side of film trivia, and players of the Box Office Game who want a ranking puzzle instead of a guessing one.
How to play Top Billing
- Open Top Billing and read tonight's theme.
- Drag the five films into order of worldwide box office, highest first.
- Lock in your order to see the real ranking and your score for the round.
- Re-rank the same five films by their critic scores and lock that in too.
- Read the recap comparing the two orders and share your result.
Tips
- Big franchise sequels usually lead the box office round even when critics were cool on them.
- Think about release size: a small film that won awards can still sit last in the money round.
- Treat the two rounds separately; the second order often runs close to the reverse of the first.
- Inflation matters on older themes, but the game uses each film's own worldwide gross.
