THEATERLE Show Guesser for October 6, 2026: eight empty guess bars and a clue table with columns for premiere year, composer, genre, source and setting decade

THEATERLE is a daily Broadway guessing game. You type any musical and see how it compares with the mystery show on premiere year, composer, genre, source material and the decade it is set in, then close in on the answer within eight guesses. One show a day, the same for everyone.

About THEATERLE

THEATERLE is a daily guessing game for musical theatre fans, made by a husband and wife who run it as an independent project under KGS Ventures LLC. Its main game, the Show Guesser, has one mystery Broadway musical each day.

Instead of letters, you guess whole shows. Type a musical into the box, pick it from the autocomplete, and each of five columns tells you how it compares with the answer: the Broadway premiere year, the principal composer, the genre (such as Golden Age, comedy or sung-through), the kind of source it was adapted from (a film, a book, a play) and the decade the story is set in. Green is an exact match, gold is close, such as a neighbouring decade, and burgundy is no match; arrows on the year and setting show whether the answer is earlier or later.

You have eight guesses, and at the end you can share a result grid that does not give the show away. A practice mode lets you play beyond the daily, your streak is kept on your device, and there is no account. The site also has a daily Character Guesser, where you name a character from a musical, and guides to shows and characters.

It suits theatregoers and cast-album listeners who know their shows by era and composer more than by plot.

How to play THEATERLE

  1. Open THEATERLE and type any Broadway musical into the guess box.
  2. Choose the title from the autocomplete and submit it.
  3. Read the five clues: premiere year, composer, genre, source and setting decade, each green, gold or burgundy.
  4. Follow the arrows on year and setting and guess again to narrow it down.
  5. Name the show within eight guesses, then share your result grid.

Tips

  • Start with a well-known show from the middle of Broadway history; its year arrow halves the field.
  • A green composer is the strongest clue: list that composer's shows and test them.
  • Use the source column to split shows adapted from films from those based on books or plays.
  • The setting decade is separate from the premiere year, so a period piece can mislead you if you mix them up.
