About The Light Brigade

The Light Brigade is a virtual reality roguelite shooter made by Funktronic Labs and released on 22 February 2023 for PC VR on Steam, PlayStation VR2 and Meta Quest. You enlist in humanity's last line of defence and fight through procedurally generated battlegrounds against soldiers, creatures and bosses, aiming, firing and reloading bolt-action rifles, machine guns and pistols by hand.

Light magic sits beside the guns: you can charge bullets with light, cast spells and pray to reveal objectives. Tarot cards found in chests change your run, and if you fall you can try to reach your lost soul before it is gone for good. Souls you cleanse raise your rank in the Brigade and pay for upgrades, new classes and weapons.

The Daily Run is entered through a separate door outside the temple hub. The developer described it in 2023 as a daily run on a different seed each day, longer like a marathon run; you get one life, and you can collect souls where other players died. A shared soul total also fills an orb in the hub, and when it is full the daily door turns into a special Global Sun Run for a couple of days.

Update 5.0, the Definitive Edition, in August 2026 was the studio's final major update, adding the town of Lebes, new tarot sets, challenge, marathon and custom runs, and Steam Frame support.

How to play The Light Brigade

1. In the temple hub, take the path up the hill outside the front door to the Daily Run door.
2. Start the run: you have one life, and the day's seed decides the battlegrounds.
3. Fight through each stage with your rifle and spells, praying to find the exit.
4. Open chests for tarot cards and attachments, and pick up souls left where other players fell.
5. When the run ends, your souls go toward your rank; a new seed waits the next day.

Tips

• With only one life, play the daily slower than a normal run and use cover in open maps.
• Check where other players' souls lie: they show where the stage has killed people before.
• Watch the orb in the hub: when the shared soul total fills it, the daily door turns into the Global Sun Run for a couple of days.
