Statele

Name the US state from its outline in six guesses, then play trivia bonus rounds about it.

Every day: One US state silhouette a day, the same for every player, with six guesses and bonus rounds about the same state. New puzzle: Once a day; the site does not state the time, and Teuteuf's other daily games turn over at midnight local time.

A Statele board with the black outline of New Jersey above an empty guess box, guess 1 of 6

Statele shows you the silhouette of one US state each day and gives you six guesses to name it. Wrong guesses tell you how far away the answer is and in which direction. After the main puzzle, bonus rounds ask more questions about the same state.

About Statele

Statele is the United States version of Worldle, made by Teuteuf Games, the studio behind Worldle, Flagle, Travle and a group of other daily geography games. Instead of a country, the shape on screen is one of the fifty states, drawn in solid black with no labels.

You type a state into the box and press Guess. If you are wrong, the row shows the distance from your state to the answer, an arrow pointing toward it, and a percentage that rises as you get closer. Distances are measured between state capitals, so a guess next door can still show a fair gap for large states. You have six tries.

Once you finish, you can keep going with bonus rounds that turn the day's state into a short quiz, with trivia such as its neighbours or capital. The game is free with ads, and Teuteuf's paid pass removes ads and opens the archive of past puzzles.

Statele suits anyone who wants to learn the map of the United States, from students to people who already know Colorado from Wyoming and want to test themselves on Delaware. A round takes a couple of minutes.

How to play Statele

  1. Look at the state outline at the top of the page.
  2. Type a state name in the box and press Guess.
  3. Read the distance, direction arrow and closeness percentage for each wrong guess.
  4. Use those hints to move toward the answer and name the state within six guesses.
  5. When you are done, play the bonus rounds for more trivia about the state.

Tips

  • Start with a large central state such as Kansas or Nebraska; the direction arrow then rules out half the map.
  • Coastlines, lakes and straight borders say a lot: jagged edges usually mean a river or the sea.
  • Remember that distance is measured between capitals, not borders.
  • Small eastern states look alike in silhouette; check the proportions before guessing.
  • Use the bonus rounds to learn neighbours and capitals, which help on later days.
