Sladder Daily is a free word puzzle on itch.io that mixes a word ladder with a sliding-tile grid. Each day's board holds a five-letter ladder, such as WORDS down to HELLO, with its letters shuffled; slide rows left and right and columns up and down until every rung reads correctly.
About Sladder Daily
Sladder Daily is made by vps and has been on itch.io since November 2022, playable in the browser. Its name joins slide and ladder, which is the whole idea.
A word ladder runs down the board, from a top word to a bottom word, each rung one letter away from the last. The top and bottom words are given; the rungs between are scrambled. You move whole rows sideways and whole columns up or down, like a sliding puzzle, until each row spells its word. In Easy mode a tile turns green when its letter is in the right place and red when it is not. In Hard mode, offered on Mondays, the colour of the letter and the colour of the tile each tell you something: yellow for the right column, blue for the right row.
The board carries the date and a new ladder comes each day. The game says it is free with no ads or in-app purchases; a paid Pro edition adds more daily categories.
It suits players who like word ladders and sliding puzzles and want both at once.
How to play Sladder Daily
- Open Sladder Daily in the browser and wait for today's dated board.
- Read the top and bottom words of the ladder.
- Slide rows left or right and columns up or down to move letters.
- Use the colours to see which letters are in place, and restore every rung to finish.
Tips
- Work out the missing rungs as a word ladder first, then slide to match them.
- Fix whole columns before rows: a column move shifts every rung at once.
- Save Hard mode for Monday, when the row and column colours both count.
