Slideword
Slide rows and columns until five secret words read across.
Every day: One scrambled 5x5 grid a day, the same for everyone: slide rows and columns until every row spells one of five secret words from the clues. New puzzle: Midnight US Eastern Time.

Slideword is a daily sliding word puzzle. The letters of five words are scrambled on a 5x5 grid, and you slide whole rows and columns, which wrap around the edges, until every row spells one of the day's words, guided by clues and against the clock. Easy mode locks each word as you find it; Hard mode asks for all five at once.
About Slideword
Slideword combines a sliding tile puzzle with a word hunt. Five secret words, each with a clue, have been scrambled across a 5x5 grid. You slide a whole row left or right, or a whole column up or down, with tiles wrapping around the edges, to bring letters into line. The puzzle is solved when every row spells one of the five words in its correct position.
Words only count across. A row that spells a word turns green; a word spelled down a column turns amber, the right word in the wrong direction, and does not count. In Easy mode each word locks the moment you spell it, so it holds still while you slide the others, and you can tap the padlock to unlock it. Hard mode never locks, so the whole grid must slide into place at once. Tapping a clue's bar reveals its word as a hint, and a clock times your solve.
Slideword is one of the daily games on Greatest Games, a site of word and logic puzzles. How to play Slideword
- Open Slideword on greatest.games and read the five clues.
- Slide a row with its left and right arrows, or a column with its up and down arrows; tiles wrap around.
- Bring the letters of a word into one row; it turns green.
- In Easy mode, found words lock in place while you work on the rest.
- Spell all five words across to finish.
Tips
- Solve the clues first so you know which words you are building.
- Remember column slides disturb every row; plan them before locking words.
- An amber word is spelled vertically and does not count; rebuild it across.
- Try Hard mode once you can solve Easy without hints.
