Word Ladder Daily, by Eggonomicon, was published on itch.io in September 2026. The ladder runs between two four-letter words, one at the top and one at the bottom. You type a word that differs from the last rung by a single letter, press Enter, and climb one step. Every rung has to be a real word, and the shortest possible route sets the par shown at the top of the screen.

A new daily puzzle arrives at midnight UTC and is numbered, so players can compare results. Reaching the target on par earns three stars, and a result panel shows your rung count, daily streak and the time left until the next ladder. A Share button copies a spoiler-free result grid. If the next rung is hard to see, you can ask for a hint, undo a step freely or give up and reveal a solution.

Beyond the daily ladder there are 36 levels that grow harder, practice ladders, and an endless Climb mode that sees how high you can go. Progress is saved in the browser, with no accounts, ads or analytics.

The game uses a chalkboard look with wooden ladders and synthesized sounds that can be muted. You can play with a physical keyboard or the on-screen letter keys with a mouse or touch.

• Work from both ends: think about which words sit one letter away from the target.
• Backspace on an empty entry undoes the last rung, so you can try another route.
• Shift+H asks for a hint if the next step is hard to see.
• Changing vowels often opens more routes than changing consonants.
