The Set Fury icon

Set Fury is a daily puzzle in the spirit of the card game SET. Each numbered board is filled with tiles that combine a speech bubble style and an inner symbol, and you drag through three, four or five touching tiles to claim a set. Longer sets score more, and the game ends when no valid sets remain.

About Set Fury

Set Fury is a free browser puzzle about spotting sets in a grid. Every tile has two properties: the shape of its speech bubble (spiky, angular, ghost and so on) and the symbol inside it (an asterisk, a spiral, an exclamation mark). A group of tiles is a set when, for each property, they are either all the same or all different.

Each day's board is numbered and generated from the date, so everyone works on the same tiles, and the page shows how many 3-, 4- and 5-tile sets are available. You click and drag to connect 3, 4 or 5 adjacent tiles, touching horizontally, vertically or diagonally.

A 3-tile set scores 1 point, a 4-tile set 3 points and a 5-tile set 7 points. Claimed tiles are replaced and the board can be rotated, and the puzzle ends when no valid set remains, so the order in which you take sets changes your final score. The result can be shared as an emoji line.

It suits fans of SET and other pattern games who enjoy squeezing the most out of a board.

How to play Set Fury

  2. Look for 3 to 5 touching tiles whose bubble styles and inner symbols are each all the same or all different.
  3. Click and drag through the tiles to claim the set.
  4. Keep finding sets; longer ones are worth far more points.
  5. Continue until no valid sets remain, then share your score.

Tips

  • Hunt for the 5-tile sets first: one is worth seven 3-tile sets.
  • Check the counters of available sets to know what is still on the board.
  • Avoid breaking up a potential long set by taking a short set from its middle.
