The Daily Set board with twelve cards of coloured shapes

The Daily Set lays out twelve cards and asks you to find the six sets among them as fast as you can. Every card has a shape, a colour, a fill and a count, and three cards form a set when each of those is all the same or all different. Everyone gets the same board, so your time lands on a shared leaderboard.

About The Daily Set

The Daily Set is a free daily puzzle built on the rules of the card game SET. It is an independent site, not made by the publisher of the card game, and it also has an iPhone app by Ronny Votel. It fills the gap left by the official SET daily puzzle, whose site has been offline since 2025.

Each card shows one, two or three symbols, in one of three shapes, three colours and three fills: solid, striped or empty. Pick three cards and look at each property in turn. If the colours are all the same or all different, and the same holds for the shapes, the fills and the counts, you have a set. Twelve cards on the board hide exactly six sets, and the clock runs until you have found them all.

There are two ways to play. Regular mode is you against the timer. Diablo mode reshuffles the board every 30 seconds, so you have to find sets before the cards move. Daily, weekly and all-time leaderboards rank players, and signing in keeps your records and streaks.

It suits anyone who already knows SET from the table, and people who like quick visual puzzles. A round takes a few minutes at most, and getting faster is most of the fun.

How to play The Daily Set

  1. Look at the twelve cards on the board.
  2. Pick three cards: for each of colour, shape, fill and count, the three must be all the same or all different.
  3. Select the three cards; a correct set is added to your list of found sets.
  4. Keep going until you have found all six sets; the clock stops when you do.
  5. Compare your time with other players on the daily leaderboard.

Tips

  • Check the rule one property at a time; if two cards match on a property and the third does not, it is not a set.
  • Pick any two cards and work out what the third must be, then look for it on the board.
  • Sets where all four properties differ are easy to miss; look for them on purpose.
  • Remember which sets you have found so you do not keep re-checking them.
  • Try Diablo mode once the normal board feels slow; it teaches you to scan quickly.
