The Scaredle wordmark in red and white on black

Scaredle is a daily guessing game for horror fans. You have six tries to name the day's film, and each wrong guess reveals how another of its characters met their end. A new film comes up every day, numbered from the game's first day in spring 2022.

About Scaredle

Scaredle takes the six-guess shape of Wordle and points it at horror films. The answer each day is one horror movie, and the clues are its body count: every guess you make, right or wrong, unlocks the description of one more character's death in the film, shown under a row of skulls.

The challenge is to recognise a film from its deaths before you run out of tries. You can click back through the skulls to reread the deaths you have already unlocked. The game numbers its puzzles by day, counting from 31 March 2022, and the film changes at midnight on your own clock.

It suits players who know their slashers, creature features and supernatural films well enough to place a scene from a one-line summary. Players who prefer stills or clips will find Framed or CineGuessr closer to what they want.

How to play Scaredle

  1. Open the game and read the first unlocked death: who died and how.
  2. Type a horror film title and pick it from the suggestions.
  3. If the guess is wrong, read the next character's death that it unlocks.
  4. Click any skull to reread a death you have already seen.
  5. Name the film within six guesses, then share your result.

Tips

  • Watch for names: a character's first name can narrow a franchise down to one entry.
  • Sequels and remakes share deaths in spirit but not in detail, so check the year and setting the clue suggests.
