Horrordle board with guesses ALTAR, STORM and TRICK, revealing the word TRICK from Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

Horrordle is a daily word game for horror fans from Living Dead Co. You guess a five-letter word in six tries with Wordle-style colour clues; when the game ends it reveals the horror film the word comes from, with a one-line teaser.

About Horrordle

Horrordle describes itself as like that other word game, but a bit creepier. Each day brings one new five-letter word for all players, picked with a horror film in mind.

You type guesses on the on-screen keyboard and the tiles show which letters are right and in place, in the word but elsewhere, or absent, all dressed in blood-spattered artwork. After the last guess the game tells you the word and the film it belongs to, for example TRICK as in Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), along with a short line about the film, so each day doubles as a horror recommendation.

Stats track your results, there is an optional account, and the game is published by Living Dead Co.

It suits horror fans and Wordle players looking for a themed variant.

Tips

  • Horror vocabulary helps: think of words like GHOST, BLOOD, KNIFE or TRICK.
  • The answer is a normal English word, so standard Wordle openers still work.
  • Film titles and taglines are a good source of candidates.
  • Do not reuse letters already shown as absent.
