Reckon
Combine six figures with + − × ÷ to hit the day's amount due, styled as a bookkeeper's ledger.
Every day: One numbered account a day: six figures and an amount due, generated from the date so everyone gets the same puzzle. New puzzle: Midnight in your own time zone.

Reckon is a daily arithmetic puzzle presented as an old-fashioned ledger. You get six numbers and a target amount, and you combine them with the four operations, line by line, until the account settles exactly.
About Reckon
Reckon is a small browser game by Jonezzyboy, published on itch.io and also playable from GitHub Pages. It dresses a classic numbers round in the look of a bookkeeper's ledger: a big red amount due at the top, six figures on cards, and ruled lines where your working is pencilled in. Puzzles are numbered; number 4 fell on 6 August 2026.
To play, you pick a figure, an operation and a second figure. The result is written into the ledger as a new figure you can spend later. Each figure can be used only once, subtraction must stay positive and division must come out even, so the ledger only ever holds positive whole numbers. Reach the amount due exactly and the account is stamped Settled.
Everyone gets the same puzzle, derived from the date with no server, and the maker says every account can be settled. After you finish, an auditor shows a shorter working if one exists. A fresh account opens at local midnight, and past accounts can be replayed for practice.
The game keeps streaks and a settle rate, awards commendations for things like using all six figures or all four operations, and offers several paper styles including a dark one. It suits fans of the numbers round on Countdown and anyone who enjoys mental arithmetic.
How to play Reckon
- Read the amount due and the six figures.
- Pick a figure, then an operation (+, −, × or ÷), then a second figure.
- The result is added to the ledger as a new figure you can use.
- Keep combining figures; each one can be spent only once.
- Hit the amount due exactly to earn the Settled stamp.

Tips
- Start by getting close with a multiplication using the largest figure, then adjust with the small ones.
- Remember that division must come out even, so look for factors of the target.
- After settling, check the auditor's shorter working to learn new routes.
