Rangele

A Rangele board: six rows of three-digit guesses with green digits and too high or too low hints

Rangele is a daily number guessing game. The answer is a three-digit number from 000 to 999, the same for everyone, and you have six tries. Each guess shows which digits are in the right place and whether your number is too high or too low, so you can binary-search toward it.

About Rangele

Rangele combines Wordle-style digit colours with the old higher-or-lower game. The daily mode gives everybody the same hidden three-digit number, anywhere from 000 to 999.

You type a three-digit guess and press Enter. Each digit is coloured green if it is in that position in the answer and grey otherwise, and digits can repeat. Beside the row, the game says whether your guess is too low, too high or equal. Using both kinds of clue, you narrow the range and fix digits until you hit the number. You have six tries, and you can share the result afterwards.

It sits on a small site of number and word games.

It suits players who enjoy quick logic with numbers and the satisfaction of a good binary search.

How to play Rangele

  1. Type a three-digit number from 000 to 999 and press Enter.
  2. Read the digit colours: green means the right digit in the right place.
  3. Read the hint: too low, too high or equal.
  4. Use both clues to choose your next number.
  5. Find the number within six tries.

Tips

  • Start near the middle, around 500, to halve the range.
  • Keep green digits fixed and move the others.
  • Remember digits can repeat.
