Quilt on Mind Loft for October 3, 2026: a 9x9 jigsaw sudoku with nine irregular pastel-coloured regions and printed digits, above a number pad and Notes, Auto-move, Undo, Erase, Clear and Hint buttons

Quilt is a free daily jigsaw sudoku from Mind Loft. The 9x9 grid swaps the usual 3x3 boxes for nine irregular coloured regions, and every row, column and region must hold 1 to 9 once. One grid a day with a single solution and no guessing needed.

About Quilt (Mind Loft)

Quilt is the jigsaw sudoku on Mind Loft, a free site of daily browser games. It is a normal 9x9 sudoku with one change: the nine 3x3 boxes are replaced by nine irregular regions, each shaded in its own pastel colour like the patches of a quilt. Every row, every column and every region must hold the digits 1 to 9 exactly once.

Each day's grid comes with a set of printed digits and has a single solution that can be reached by logic. The odd region shapes change the usual sudoku reasoning: a region that wanders across three rows can still force a digit into one row, and comparing a group of rows with the regions that cover them is a standard trick in this variant.

You tap a square and then a number, or pick a number and tap squares, with notes for candidates, auto-move, undo, erase and a hint. On a desktop the arrow keys and number row work too. Wrong entries are not flagged, so catching your own slips is part of the solve, and a clean solve earns a perfect score.

A new grid goes up at midnight US Eastern Time, and the Sunday Edition is harder, with fewer clues. Quilt sits in Mind Loft's sudoku family with Suds (classic), Cages (killer), Sando (sandwich) and others.

How to play Quilt (Mind Loft)

  1. Open mindloftdaily.com/quilt and press Start to show the day's grid.
  2. Fill every row and column with 1 to 9 once each.
  3. Also fill each coloured region, which replaces the 3x3 box, with 1 to 9 once.
  4. Tap a square then a number, or pick a number then tap squares; turn on Notes for candidates.
  5. Finish without mistakes for a perfect score; your time sets your leaderboard place.

Tips

  • Look for regions that sit almost entirely in one row or column; they leave little room for some digits.
  • Compare a band of rows with the regions inside it: the cells that stick out must match the cells that poke in.
  • Wrong entries are not flagged, so check each region before you finish.
  • The small counter on each number key shows how many of that digit are left to place.
