Polka on Mind Loft for October 3, 2026: an empty 9x9 sudoku grid with white and black dots on the borders between squares, above a number pad and Notes, Auto-move, Undo, Erase, Clear and Hint buttons

Polka is a free daily kropki sudoku from Mind Loft. The 9x9 grid starts empty. A white dot between two squares means their digits differ by one, a black dot means one is double the other, and no dot means neither, so the blank edges are clues as well.

About Polka (Mind Loft)

Polka is the kropki sudoku on Mind Loft, a free site of daily browser games. The grid follows normal sudoku rules, with each row, column and 3x3 box holding 1 to 9 once, but not one digit is printed at the start. All the information is in the dots on the borders between neighbouring squares.

A white dot means the two digits differ by exactly 1. A black dot means one digit is double the other. No dot at all means neither is true, and that is what makes this version hard: every blank border rules out pairs, and those silences do much of the work. Each day's grid has a single solution that can be reached by logic without guessing.

The game does not flag wrong entries, so you need to check your own work. A clean solve scores 10 and the leaderboard is ordered by time. The usual helpers are there: notes, auto-move, undo, erase, clear and a hint, plus a count of each digit still to place.

A new grid goes up at midnight US Eastern Time. The boards get harder as the week goes on, and the Sunday Edition is drawn from the top of the difficulty range. Polka sits in Mind Loft's sudoku family with Suds (classic), Mercury (thermo) and Cages (killer, which also opens empty).

How to play Polka (Mind Loft)

  1. Open mindloftdaily.com/polka and press Start to show the day's empty grid.
  2. Fill every row, column and 3x3 box with 1 to 9 once each.
  3. Where a white dot sits between two squares, make their digits differ by 1; where a black dot sits, make one double the other.
  4. Where there is no dot, the two digits must be neither consecutive nor in a 1:2 ratio.
  5. Tap a square then a number, or pick a number then tap squares; a clean solve scores 10.

Tips

  • Black dots can only join 1-2, 2-4, 3-6 or 4-8, so they pin digits down fast.
  • A square with dots on many sides is the best place to start; list the digits that can satisfy all of them.
  • Use the blank borders: a 5 next to a 4 or 6 needs a white dot, so an undotted edge rules those out.
  • Wrong entries are not flagged; check every box before you finish.
