PunFiction Box Office Blunders challenge #111: a punned film quote in bold comic lettering, a parody plotline box, a Hint 1: Original Movie button, empty letter boxes for the parody title and a red Su

Box Office Blunders gives you a made-up parody of a well known film each day: a silly plot pitch and a famous line with one word swapped. Work out the original film, then the rhyming pun title, using up to four hints if you need them. Past challenges can be replayed and your streak is tracked.

About PunFiction: Box Office Blunders

Box Office Blunders is a daily game from PunFiction built around film parodies. Each challenge invents a spoof of a well-known film and gives you two clues: a famous line from that film with a word twisted into a pun, and a short, silly plotline for the parody. Your job is to type the parody's title, which is the original title with one word swapped for a rhyme or near-rhyme.

Challenges are numbered from the first one on 14 June 2026 (number 111 fell on 2 October 2026). Letter boxes show the length and word breaks of the answer, so you can count letters as you think. If you are stuck, four hints open one at a time: the original film, a highlight on the word that rhymes, the first letters of each word, and finally all the vowels filled in.

A new challenge arrives each day at 2am Pacific Time. Arrows beside the challenge number let you go back and replay earlier days, you can view yesterday's answer, and a streak counter tracks your current and best runs. The game is free in the browser with ads.

It suits film fans who enjoy wordplay, and works well as a quick shared groan with friends.

How to play PunFiction: Box Office Blunders

  1. Open Box Office Blunders and read the punned quote and the parody plotline.
  2. Work out which real film is being spoofed.
  3. Find the rhyming swap that turns the real title into the parody title.
  4. Type the title into the letter boxes and press Submit Guess.
  5. If stuck, open hints in order: original film, rhyming word, first letters, then all vowels.

Tips

  • The punned quote usually changes the same word as the title, so compare it with the original line.
  • Count the letter boxes: word lengths often confirm which film it is.
  • Try the first hint before the others; knowing the film often makes the rhyme obvious.
  • Replay earlier challenges with the arrow buttons to get a feel for the puns.
